Have You Heard About the Christel Coffee Connection? By Randi Christel, Realtor
In November of 2006 the first Christel Coffee Connection was held, with over 25 people in attendance. The feedback was very positive from the first gathering. Some ladies connected after the coffee and made business connections. Some reacquainted themselves with old friends and some made a new friend. Based on this success, I plan to hold future “connections” every quarter, with the next meeting scheduled for April.
A lot of people want to know what inspired me to start the Christel Coffee Connection and I have to say the primary reason was time. Not enough time, that is. I have so many “girl friends” that I want to have coffee, lunch or cocktails with and there just aren’t enough hours in the day to squeeze in these important visits on top of an already full schedule which includes my family, real estate business and full-time chauffer service for all of my children’s activities.
I’d also done some research on “power networking” and how it can be extremely beneficial for ALL participants, so I thought I’d meld the two together and came up with the Christel Coffee Connection. My vision was to create an atmosphere where people could network, brainstorm, share ideas, swap business cards etc. in a casual, social environment amongst friends while enjoying coffee and making a new friend or two. Above all else, I wanted the ladies to have a sense of community, to feel welcome and have fun! Mission accomplished!
In addition, I wanted to introduce these individuals to some awesome people that I know, in the form of guest speakers, demonstrations, travel tips or ideas, real estate tips, etc. At the November meeting an interior designer/staging company was one of my guests and she truly awed the others with her inspiring ideas and boundless creativity. A few people asked for her card after the presentation as they were in need of a professional interior designer.
My new “coffee gal” logo has become quite a hit, too. The moment the first e-invitation hit the air waves I received tons of comments from friends saying “The coffee gal is so you!” I suppose this is because I love to entertain and be a great hostess.
As with every new venture, we learn from our mistakes. Fortunately, the only one I made at this event was too much food! I think everyone was just too busy mingling that they forgot to eat!
Until the next CCC update, happy networking! |
